Visa website of the French Consulate General in London
To apply for a visa at the French Visas section, you should follow the following steps :
please be sure to have a residence permit in the UK (and not a C visit visa)
check if you need a visa for the Schengen States
check that the French visas section is competent to issue the visa (if not the visa will not be issued )
you must gather all the supporting documents related to the purpose of your trip in France (warning : incomplete files often lead to a visa refusal and the fees are not refunded) and complete the application form
check if you may apply by mail (this opportunity is given only to people living in specific counties and for some types of visas only)
please take an appointment (which is compulsory to access the visa section)
Before going to the consulate, you must :
check that you have all the requested supporting documents by filling this form that you’ll have to present at the visa section
check the visa fee (caution : the visa fee is not refundable even if the visa is refused)
 check our address
Some advice :
please be on time at your appointment
the waiting time inside the premises may be several hours. Please take all the necessary precautions and avoid coming with young children
to expedite the process you are kindly requested to use the folder that will be given to you at the Consulate to arrange your supporting documents. That allows you to check that your file is complete which will significantly reduce the risk to see your application being refused.
check that you have all the copies of your supporting documents as you won’t be able to make any copy in our premises.
your travel insurance should bear the words "certificate" and not be a simple quotation.
Bon voyage en France !
